Education

Duke University, Master of Environmental Management (completed 2012). Focus in environmental economics. University of Rhode Island, Dual Bachelor of Arts in Political Science & German (completed 2008) Focus in environmental policy. 3.99 overall GPA. 4.0 in-major GPAs. I was selected by the faculty of both the German and Political Science departments as the top graduating senior in each major.

Experience

Seven years experience tutoring German, writing, ISEE, SSAT, SAT, ACT, Spanish, Study Skills, Executive Function Skills. Fluent in both German and Spanish. Lived in Germany on two occasions, and traveled extensively through Latin America. 98th percentile score on the GRE, which helped me be admitted to graduate schools at Duke, Cornell and University of Chicago. The GRE can be thought of as the SAT for graduate school. Former NCAA Division 1 track athlete Why I choose to tutor: I enjoy working in a one-on-one learning environment, both as a tutor and a student. I've taken private lessons in areas as diverse as bowling, singing, high jump, and guitar, while on the flip-side tutoring for languages, standardized tests, and executive function skills. I think we can learn so much through one-on-one, conversational, energetic teaching, and I apply this philosophy every day as both a student and teacher.

Hobbies

Outside of academic tutoring and mentoring, I enjoy snowboarding, basketball, soccer, bowling, New England Patriots football, international travel (my latest trip was to Colombia, where I got to use my Spanish!), spending time with my brothers and parents, and reading up on global current events. I try to appreciate the outdoors as much as possible. I snowboard through the entire winter, and I'm looking to start ice skating or snowshoeing soon, as well. In the warmer months, I'm outside reading, playing basketball, working out, and occasionally hiking the Whites and Greens. Nothing beats fresh air and sunshine!
